Just to make it clear, this is not from me to you.
It's just a list of things about me; accurate and true.
I've a very open face but it's actually a mask –
If you really want to know me you are going to have to ask.

We've all been hurt before and, for me, it's made me stronger:
I learnt the hard way all the things that I accept no longer.
So now I'm strong and feisty.  I've no time for falsely pleasant.
If you're full of bullshit I will tell you you're a peasant.

I know how to be kind.  It's my natural resting state,
But if you try to suck it up so you can feel great,
I will see your bullshit coming.  I will spot it like a hawk.
So if this statement makes you cringe you'd better take a walk.

Poetic portrait for Catwoman
1st February 2015 ©Simon Welsh Poetry

This was a poetic portrait written for a visitor to my Fig2  solo exhibition at the ICA in January 2015.

What is a Poetic Portrait?

I followed a tweet  Where exactly am I?
