Forgive me

If you give your money
To a really worthy cause,
Then your world is always sunny;
You’re surrounded by applause.

Cashpoints greet your plastic
With electric sighs of pleasure,
And your credits are elastic.
So you do not need to measure

All the life blood that you’re spending
On your Friday nights in town –
But your week was never-ending;
You deserve to wear the crown.

Earthquake in the ocean
Now it’s Thailand-Under-Sea,
But an alcoholic potion
Does the trick for you and me.

Yes, we feel pity
That their lives have been destroyed,
But it’s hard to feel gritty
Once the booze has been deployed.

And, anyway, we’ve given;
Our cash has gone abroad.
So why should we be driven
’Cause our wallets can afford to keep us occupied?

We do our bit.
