What women want

How can I say how I feel?  My God!
It’s just now what men are about.
If I said I was angry I’d sound really odd –
I’m supposed to just throw things and shout.

Look at you sitting there making me jealous:
You do it on purpose, I know.
And the guys that you flirt with are so over-zealous,
Emotionally stunted, and slow.

What do you want?  Should I bash on my chest
With my hairy Neanderthal fists?
Or should I come over and rip off my vest
And then offer you both of my wrists?

You wish I thought less so that you could think more
And then win every scrap from the start,
And if I screw up you just show me the door
’Cause I took your emotions apart.

If I threw down my pint glass and started a brawl,
You’d placate me with gentle caresses.
You’d melt me and help me articulate all
Of my man-made emotional stresses.

But I just don’t need to get angry and crazy –
My therapist sorted me out.
Maybe you want someone frightened and lazy;
A lover who’s riddled with doubt.

If that’s the case then although you’re the one for me,
I would not help you to grow,
And chasing the dream would be painful – not fun for me.
This much is certain.  I know.

So good-bye, my Princess.  Good luck in your life.
You’ll accomplish incredible things.
It still makes me sad you will not be my wife,
But inside me our season still sings.
