I look into the mirror's glass and deep into my eyes
They are dark and deep and searching for the answer to the cries
Of the world and all its people as we struggle in the dark.
I sometimes feel all of it whilst walking in the park.

Kensington is peaceful on a crisp brown autumn day,
And walking helps my courage; helps me not to run away.
And then I go to battle in the way I understand –
I'm the rescuer of many.  I can lead them by the hand.

But who is going to lead me?  Who will be my symmetry?
I'm an embassy for freedom but I don't think I am free.
So today I will surrender to the things I don't yet know.
Let this poem light the path and show the way to go.

This was a poetic portrait written for a visitor to my Fig2  solo exhibition at the ICA in January 2015.

What is a Poetic Portrait?
